Medical assisting is predicted to be one of the fastest-growing occupations through 2014. Americans are living longer and requiring more health care as they age. A larger overall population also contributes to the high demand for quality medical care and treatment. As a result, the health care industry is growing at a tremendous rate, offering excellent opportunities for medical assistants with training from an accredited institution like Career Centers of Texas.*

 Clinical Skills

Much of your training will be conducted in our medical training labs, which are designed to look and feel like real-world health care offices with examination tables, minor surgical instruments, lab testing machines and supplies, and CPR and EKG training equipment. You can practice performing clinical procedures such as administering injections, assisting in minor surgical procedures, drawing blood for medical testing, and taking vital signs.

 Administrative Skills

Because computer technology is vital in today's health care office, this program emphasizes word processing, computerized finance management, and various methods for managing medical office records. You may also be responsible for routine office administration procedures, such as:
  • Basic accounting procedures
  • Filing insurance claims
  • Medical coding and billing and maintaining patients' medical records
  • Preparing correspondence and transcribing medical information

 Prepare for Certification

This program may help you prepare for the Registered Medical Assistant (RMA) certification exam sponsored by the American Medical Technologists (AMT).
